«I thought, ‘Oh, this is our new life!» — we continue to share the stories of participants in the “DACHA” camps for internally displaced families, which we hold at a sanatorium in the picturesque outskirts of Kyiv.

The REALIS Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the Open University of Maidan (VUM), is launching the “Veteran Leadership for Community Development” project. The project aims to strengthen the role of veterans, women veterans, and their family members in the development of local communities, local self-government, and decision-making at the local level.
Participants will have the opportunity to receive training in leadership, project management, communications, and cooperation with local self-government authorities. They will also develop their own community initiatives to address the needs of their local communities.
The Hope House project has begun in the beautiful town of Truskavets. Over the next three months, the camp will welcome women whose husbands were killed in the war, are missing in action, or are being held in captivity.
The first two sessions of the DACHA Recreational and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Camps brought together parents and children from frontline communities in the Chernihiv region. For many of them, it was the first opportunity in a long time to leave, even for a short while, a place where war has long become part of everyday life.
During the camp, participants not only relaxed in nature but also took part in group sessions with psychologists, art therapy activities, family events, and shared leisure time. Over the course of these two weeks, they got to know one another, supported each other, and gradually regained a sense of peace and safety.
At the end of May, the team of REALIS Charity Foundation conducted the first session of the “DACHA” (Helping Adaptation through Compassion and Art) Recreational and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Camps for Children and Adults for families from a community in the Chernihiv region.
Over the course of two weeks, participants had the opportunity to relax in nature, restore their emotional well-being, meet with psychologists, and spend quality time with their families away from the constant anxiety and stress caused by the war.
Last weekend, the course “Integration of Theology and Psychology” for students of the “Christian Counseling” program took place at the Realis campus. The course, dedicated to integrating a biblical understanding of the human person with contemporary approaches in psychology, psychotherapy, and pastoral counseling, was led by Olena Droshchenko, a clinical psychologist and supervisor.
